John Lennon was known for taking long walks throughout his life as a way to clear his mind and find inspiration for his songwriting. He was often seen walking in New York City, especially in Central Park, and in his hometown of Liverpool, England. Lennon once claimed that he would walk up to 20 miles a day and that walking helped him to feel free and relaxed. He even recorded a song called "Walking on Thin Ice" in 1980 that was inspired by one of his walks. Unfortunately, Lennon was tragically shot and killed in New York City in 1980 while returning home from a recording session.
